Minnesota Golden Gophers 

The Gophers will have quarterback Tanner Morgan back for his third season as the starter but the defense will need to be better than last season if they are going to compete in the west.

Minnesota will play a fun out of conference game when they travel to Colorado in September, capping a tough early season schedule that opens with Ohio State.

The Gophers will have to handle business in games against Maryland, Nebraska, Purdue and Illinois before they face a brutal closing stretch with games at Indiana, at Iowa and home to Wisconsin.

Head coach PJ Fleck has the Gophers right in the mix of the Big Ten West when he first arrived, but could be facing another mediocre season.

Prediction: 6-6
