Predicting PSU Basketball’s potential transfers’ destinations

John Harrar

Basically everyone wants him.  It’d be faster to list the schools that didn’t contact him.  Unlike virtually everyone else on the team, Harrar doesn’t have his own twitter, so it’s very difficult to read the tea leaves on his next location.  Michigan State is said to be very interested and recent interest from Tennessee and NC State have only added to the intrigue.  VBR Crystal Ball — 20% chance of return

Seth Lundy

Perhaps the best chance of returning (and considered friends with potential recruit Jameel Brown), Lundy posted an interesting picture on Instagram with him and current assistant coach (of Chambers/Ferry at least) Talor Battle saying “The Past & The Present”.  Is that a sign he (and Talor) are returning to Penn State? VBR Crystal Ball — 75% chance of return

Jamari Wheeler

Wheeler ain’t coming back, folks.  He was the most outspoken in his defense of Pat Chambers and, although Pat didn’t get the Fordham job, it’s still possible Jamari follows either Pat or Jim Ferry wherever they land.  VBR Crystal Ball — 5% chance of return

Trent Buttrick

Buttrick has received interest from a lot of smaller D1 schools (like Robert Morris, Idaho, Chattanooga), but has said he is considering returning to the team, according to an article on 24/7 Sports.  This will basically come down do you want a big role with the team (transfer) or play in a high conference in a supporting role (then return).  Currently, if Harrar doesn’t come back, PSU Basketball has one center (Tsimbila) and no power forwards on the team.  Say what you will about Buttrick, the team has a spot and a need for him next year. VBR Crystal Ball — 33.33% chance of return

Patrick Kelly

Not a lot of news about this relatively unknown player on the Penn State roster.  His entrance in the portal may have surprised some as he got minimal run in the blue and white pink and black this year.  This may be the hardest one to decipher yet.  VBR Crystal Ball — 25% chance of return

Credit to new HC Micah Shrewsberry for getting Brockington to return.  Seth Lundy is the crucial next piece (along with securing the committment from Brown).  The roster is starting to take form for next year (still don’t know much about Sessoms’ plans) but with one glaring deficiency…front court.  We currently have C – Abdou Tsimbila and that’s it under the basket (Dread is not a power forward and really neither is Lundy if he returns).  So, Coach Shrew has two choices:

A. Hit the portal hard for at least one center and one starting caliber power forward

B. Recruit John and Trent Back
