Another Penn State Basketball player has joined the majority of his soon-to-be former teammates in the NCAA Transfer Portal, according to 247.

Patrick Kelly, the 6’7″ freshman from Bradenton, Florida (and the famed IMG Academy) played in five games this year, averaging 2.2 minutes, 0.4 rebounds, 0.2 assists and 0.2 blocks per game.  He did not attempt a field goal or free throw in the 2020-2021 campaign.  Initially from Lynchburg, VA, Patrick was recruited as a 3 star Small Forward to the Nittany Lions by Pat Chambers.

Kelly joins the never ending list of Nittany Lions currently in the transfer portal, his name now next to SG Myreon Jones, PG Jamari Wheeler, SG Izaiah Brockington, SF Seth Lundy, PF Trent Buttrick and C John Harrar.   Here is your 2021-2022 Nittany Lion Basketball Team Roster:

PG — Sam Sessoms

SG — Daillon Johnson

SF — Caleb Dorsey

PF — Myles Dread

C — Abdou Tsimbila

Bench: guards DJ Gordon and Andy Christos, and the single incoming recruit Elijah Hutchins-Everett

That’s it!

Seven players currently rostered thanks to a record seven players in the NCAA Transfer Portal.  It’s of course possible that any of those in the portal could return, but this isn’t a great look for the administration, who announced their new HC signing just hours after Penn State Basketball did not receive an NIT bid.

Micah Shrewsberry’s hiring as head coach has received mixed reviews, but NBA players Jared Sullinger and Isaiah Thomas raved about Shrewsberry, as did current Celtics HC Brad Stevens:
