Six Nittany Lions (so far) have entered the NCAA Transfer Portal in just 24 hours after Penn State Basketball announced the hiring of Micah Shrewsberry as their next Head Coach.

Penn State Basketball’s entire opening day starting lineup is currently sitting in the NCAA Transfer Portal.

That’s PG, Jamari Wheeler, SG Izaiah Brockington, SF Myreon Jones, PF Seth Lundy and C John Harrar, and they’re joined by backup PF/C Trent Buttrick. That’s almost 75% of the Lions’ scoring, 80% of their rebounding and 75% of their assists currently looking at options to play in something other than

pink and black.

None of this is the fault of Shrewsberry; the administration had six months since the awkward and ill-timed firing of Pat Chambers to win the team’s trust and buy-in.

Instead, they forced the new hire down the players’ throats just hours after the team was denied an NIT bid they very much wanted.

And Shrewsberry won’t even be coming to Happy Valley until Purdue’s NCAA Tournament run is complete.  Good, he deserves to finish the season … But why didn’t the administration use that time to talk the players, explain what may be coming down the pipeline and most importantly LISTEN to their concerns? Was the administration that desperate to turn the page on the Chambers and Ferry era?

Either way, let’s look into our VBR crystal ball and determine where Penn State Basketball’s players in the Transfer Portal might be playing next year.

John Harrar

According to The Miller Report, John Harrar received interest from LaSalle, Michigan St. Pitt, Miami, Rutgers, Wake Forest, Tennessee, N.C. State, Louisville, and Maryland.  And why not?

Arguably the most coveted of the Nittany Lions, due to his tenacity (leading the B1G in offensive rebounds), and ability to fit on almost any roster.

Harrar going to another B1G school would really add insult to injury.
