Big Ten defense rankings: How does Penn State Football stack up?

7. Michigan Wolverines 

Defense has been the calling card under head coach Jim Harbaugh and defensive coordinator Dom Brown in Ann Arbor, however that was not the case in 2020.

The Wolverines only played six games last season but finished near the bottom of the Big Ten in points allowed per game with an astounding 34.5. The defense only managed nine sacks and two interceptions which led to the firing of Brown.

Michigan will lose star pass rusher Kwity Paye to the NFL but gets a boost from the return of defensive linemen Aidan Hutchinson who could be one of the better defensive players in the Big Ten next fall.

With Harbaugh firmly on the hot seat, he will need a significantly better defensive effort in 2021 to save his job.
