Penn State Football inside linebacker Micah Parsons is one of the premier defensive prospects in the 2021 NFL Draft, and Jayson Oweh is viewed by teams across the league as having among the biggest potential due to his athleticism.

This week, both of the Nittany Lions‘ premier draft prospects, potentially projected to each be chosen in the top-20 picks, ran blazing times in the 40-yard dash.

Ryan Capretta is among the more respected speed trainers among teams ahead of the NFL Draft, and this week he clocked Oweh at blistering 4.34 on the hand-timer and 4.38 on a laser-timed run.

Meanwhile, Capretta had Parsons at 4.41 with a stopwatch and 4.44 on the All-American linebacker’s laser-timed run.

Oweh’s time would be plenty respectable for most wide receivers at a traditional NFL Combine, it’s even more impressive for a defensive end weighing in at 256 pounds.

Already among the highest-risers in this year’s class, because of teams being tantalized by his athleticism and explosiveness, if Oweh can replicate these runs at Penn State Football’s Pro Day later this month, there’s a chance he could wind up being chosen in the top-15 picks.

Meanwhile, Parsons’ time reinforces what teams already know; that he has the potential to be a dominant sideline-to-sideline linebacker in coverage with more than enough speed and explosiveness to be a disruptive pass-rusher.

Penn State Football’s Pro Day showcase is March 25, and it wouldn’t be surprising if all 32 teams are in attendance — with plenty of head coaches and general managers on hand to scout Parsons and Oweh.
