Penn State Basketball recruiting earned a re-committment from Elijah Hutchins-Everett, securing (finally) their first 2021-2022 recruit!

This name sure should sound familiar.

Elijah committed to Pat Chambers on August 10th but just three weeks after Penn State “fired” Chambers, the three star center from New Jersey decommitted and reopened his recruitment.  This was the third recruit to decommit after the Pat Chambers’ news, along with Taquan Woodley (4-star, NJ) and Houston Mallette (3 star, Houston). The 2021-2022 recruiting class was setting up to be one of Penn State’s best, even without the traditional Philadelphia pipeline that Pat was known for.

Hutchins-Everett initially chose the Nittany Lions over DePaul, Miami and some small Philly catholic school with a well-dressed head coach.

"“I told Penn State they can still recruit me,” Hutchins-Everrett told 24/7 sports. “I still love the school regardless and it was a hard decision de-committing from them but I had to better myself and do what was best for my career moving forward. So we’ll see what happens in the future.”"

Since his de-commitment, Ohio State, Texas A&M, Dequesne and Marquette all recruited him but he decided to stay with Penn State in the end.

Is it possible Elijah knows who the next head coach at Penn State will be?

Could this lean towards Jim Ferry retaining the job since he’s really the only one that could recruit a player to Penn State right now?  Only time will tell, but either way, this is a huge get for Penn State Basketball recruiting a position of need (with only current true freshman Abdou Tsimbila remaining in the front court).

Dare I say, #theclimb is back!!!
