Penn State Basketball lost yet another highly touted recruit Sunday

Elijah Hutchins-Everett has announced he is reopening his recruitment, adding to the misery that is rooting for Penn State sports right now, and the exodus of highly touted recruits from Penn State basketball.

A 3-star Center from New Jersey, Everett initially committed to the Pat Chambers-led team on August 10th.

Now, just three weeks after PSU fired Chambers, the Nittany Lions have lost their third recruit.  A week after Penn State announced that assistant coach Jim Ferry would coach the 2020-2021 season, Taquan Woodley (4-star, NJ) announced his decommittment.  A week later, 3-star Houston Mallette announced he was reopening his college recruitment.  Well, today Elijah completed the hat trick for the now non-existant 2021 Penn State Basketball recruiting class.

Everett initially choose Penn State over DePaul, Miami and Villanova(!).

Unlike Mallette and Woodley, Everett added little to his decision byeond announcing his decommittment.  Both Mallette and Woodley explicity stated their rationale was due to the firing of Chambers.

If it wasn’t before, #theclimb is very much dead.  After spending almost 10 years to climb from the basement of the B1G to at least the middle, it’s likely the future is even more bleak than before Chambers took the helm.
