4. Minnesota Golden Gophers 

Gophers quarterback Tanner Morgan will be entering his fourth season as the starter for PJ Fleck’s bunch, and has been a little bit of a jekyll and hyde story in his career.

In 2019 under coordinator Kirk Ciarrocca, with weapons Tyler Johnson and Rashod Bateman he was stellar, throwing for over 3,200 yards and 30 scores. Last fall, with Ciarrocca at Penn State Football and Johnson in the NFL, he was resigned to more of a game manager.

The Gophers were reliant on a strong running game, as Morgan only threw for 1,374 and seven scores in seven games, to his five interceptions. He only threw seven picks all of 2019 in 13 games.

Backup Brock Annexstad, a former starter who lost his job to Morgan is as solid as a backup as they come in the conference and is a boost to where Minnesota falls on this list.

With Bateman most likely a first round pick in this April’s draft, Morgan will have to shoulder even more of the load on offense this upcoming season.
