8. Iowa Hawkeyes 

Iowa seems to find a young quarterback every few years and really invest in his growth and development, and Spencer Petras could be that next signal caller for head coach Kirk Ferentz.

Petras, a redshirt sophomore, is a towering presence in the pocket at six-foot-five and 231 pounds, similar to Nate Stanley who was the quarterback at Iowa for the 2017-2019 seasons.

The California native had a very solid first season as the starter, throwing for 1,569 yards in eight games with nine touchdowns to five interceptions. The Hawkeyes’ offense is run-centric, and mostly asks the quarterback to just manage the game.

Iowa would have been higher on this list, however, the depth behind Petras is just not there, as Alex Padilla is the only other scholarship quarterback on the roster right now.
