Former Penn State Football tight end Mike Gesicki is quickly blossoming into one of the top pass-catchers at his position in the NFL, and a focal point of the Miami Dolphins‘ aerial attack.

Last season, Gesicki was second on the Dolphins in targets, with 85, and it is easy to see why.

Whether it is contested catches in traffic, one-handed grabs, or big plays over the middle of the field, the former Nittany Lions standout was a big-play machine for the Dolphins in 2020.

Just check out this reception below, from a game against the Cincinnati Bengals, where all three of those elements show why Gesicki is such a weapon:

Gesicki, 25, is only going to improve, especially as the Dolphins hope their quarterback play stabilizes and improves around Tua Tagovailoa in 2021 and beyond. Last season, Gesicki caught 53 of his 85 targets for 703 yards and six touchdowns, while averaging 13.3 yards per reception.

Pro Football Focus gave Gesicki a 78.1 overall grade, and a 79.4 receiving mark as Dolphins quarterbacks produced a 100.8 quarterback rating when targeting him. He was also the outlet’s No. 8 ranked tight end.

One of the most gifted players to play for Penn State Football coach James Franklin, It is safe to say that regardless of what the Dolphins wind up doing at quarterback this offseason — sticking with Tagovailoa, trading for Deshaun Watson, etc — that Miami has an elite weapon to throw to in Gesicki.
