Offensive guard Juice Scruggs made headlines just stepping on the field last season, after he rehabbed from a scary car accident a few years earlier.

By the end of the season, he was no longer just a feel good story, he was pancaking Illini defenders and outplaying Mike Miranda on the interior of the offensive line.

Penn State Football will have good competition this spring/fall at left guard, center and right guard with the departures of Michael Menet and Will Fries to the NFL. Offensive line play has held Franklin’s squads back in the past, but next year’s line could be a strong point if a player like Scruggs takes that next step.

The six-foot-three, 302 pound redshirt sophomore plays with a mean streak, finishing defenders and that type of mentality and mindset can be infectious throughout the line.

If Scruggs can hold down that left guard spot and pass protect while also being a road grader in the running game, this line can make Yurcich’s air raid attack a dangerous one for the Nittany Lions’ opponents in 2021.
