Going into last season, the wide receivers group was probably the biggest question mark the Nittany Lions had. Fast forward one full year, and this unit is one of the strong points of the team.

New offensive coordinator Mike Yurich must feel good about having one of the best wide receiver tandems in college football with Jahan Dotson and Parker Washington. However, the emergence of a third threat could bring this offense to the next level.

That is where Lambert-Smith comes in, entering his second year on campus after catching 15 passes for 138 yards last season. The freshman played in every game and went in and out of the starting lineup in 2020.

The Lions247 podcasts reports that many around the program believe the six-foot-one and 185-pound Lambert-Smith has the potential of being better than Washington, he just needs to tap into that potential. A full offseason in the weight training program should do him wonders as he could benefit from being more around 190-195 pounds.

If the Norfolk native can take that next step next season and emerge as a legitimate third threat, with the running game and tight ends this offense could be the explosive unit Franklin had in mind when he brought Yurcich on board.
