New faces for the Nittany Lions

Arnold Ebiketie – the former Temple defensive end is a six-foot-four, 240 pound found redshirt junior who was awarded Second Team All-AAC honors last season. Ebiketie collected 42 total tackles last season, 8.5 tackles for loss, four sacks and three forced fumbles for the Owls. He should start right away as the Nittany Lions lost Shaka Toney and Jayson Oweh to the NFL Draft.

Derrick Tangelo – Tangelo comes to Happy Valley a grad transfer, after ranking inside the top-three in run stuff percentage in the ACC last season. The six-foot-two and 310 pound interior defensive linemen figures to take the place of Antonio Shelton who transferred to Florida. Last season the Bullis School native recorded 40 total tackles, four tackles for loss and two sacks.

Johnny Dixon – Dixon stepped in as a starting cornerback last season at South Carolina when both starting corners opted out due to Covid-19. The six-foot, 185 pound corner had 34 total tackles last season and five pass breakups. Dixon allowed the fourth lowest completion percentage in the SEC last season, allowing completions on only 35.3% of passes thrown his way. He will be a candidate to start at the star position in Pry’s defense.

Eric Wilson – Wilson is maybe the most intriguing prospect of the group, as he transfers to Penn State Football from Harvard, where he was Second Team All-IVY in 2019. The six-foot-four, 315 pound guard as NFL aspirations and hopes to realize them in the Big Ten. He will at worst be very good depth on the interior of that offensive line, if not start at right guard. He will be in competition with Juice Scruggs, Des Holmes and Landon Tengwall.

John Lovett – The New Jersey native is a fifth year senior running back from Baylor, who ammased over 1,800 rushing yards and 17 touchdowns while at Baylor. A coaching and offensive scheme change have led him to the portal, however Lovett wore a single digit number every season, numbers reserved for players that have shown exceptional leadership and dedication to the Baylor football team. He enters a crowded backfield where he will have to fight for reps.
