Wide Receiver

Penn State currently has three 4-star wide receiver commits in Kaden Saunders, Mehki Flowers and Anthony Ivey.

Despite this, there’s plenty of reasons for Penn State to keep recruiting receivers. First off, 2021 signee Lonnie White Jr. may chose the MLB over Penn State this Summer, leaving a big hole in the 2021 wide receiver group.

The second reason is that Mehki Flowers may be a safety at the next level. That probably depends on how the Nittany Lions fair recruiting the position in 2022.

The third, and maybe most important reason, is that other schools are still hot on Saunders. Those schools include Notre Dame and Oregon, while Ohio State hasn’t offered yet, that possibility remains.

The remaining targets include a group of 4-stars, Darrius Clemons, Andre Greene Jr. and Samuel Mbake.

If Penn State’s offense takes the next step, something many expect under Yurich, it should make Penn State more desirable for these receiver targets.

Holding on to Saunders will be Penn State’s top priority when it comes to 2022 receiver recruiting from here on out, but adding a big body receiver like Clemons or Mbake would be a great addition to the class.
