Penn State Football: Way too early offensive position group rankings
1. Wide Receivers
Going into last season the wide receivers group was arguably Penn State Football’s biggest question mark.
Now, with junior Jahan Dotson back after a monster breakout season, and freshmen Parker Washington and KeAndre Lamber-Smith with a year under their belts, this is the Nittany Lions’ strongest group on offense.
Even with inconsistent quarterback play, Dotson led or was at the top of the leaderboard in the Big Ten in all major categories, receptions(52), yards(884) and touchdowns(8). He played second fiddle to KJ Hamler in 2019 but showed last year he is worthy of being the number one guy, and did it in a multitude of ways, whether it was getting over the top of the defense or taking a quick pass the distance.
The Texas native, freshman Parker Washington put up big numbers as a freshman, 36 receptions for 489 yards and six touchdowns. Him and Dotson will form one of the best wide receiver duos not only in the conference, but in the country.
The depth is there as well with freshman Lambert-Smith who some within the program think can be better then even Washington and just needs time to show it. Cam Sullivan-Brown and Daniel George along with the incoming freshman make this group potentially very deep.
Yurcich’s new spread, air raid attack should mean only more opportunities for these playmakers and potentially even bigger numbers in 2021.
