No. 4: Parker Washington

Wide receiver Parker Washington was a surprise name that popped up as a started on the Nittany Lions’ first depth chart of the season prior to Week 1.

Washington turned heads during fall camp, earning the start and has been turning heads of those around the conference and country ever since. The Texas native was one of the best freshman in the country, and was a perfect compliment in the slot to fellow wideout Jahan Dotson.

The freshman hauled in 36 passes for 489 yards and six scores, emerging as a legit number one option in the passing game at times. He was a demon in the slot and excelled in the RPO offense catching slat passes over the middle of the field.

As coach James Franklin had mentioned before the season, Washington is like a running back with the ball in his hands after the catch. Even more impressively, at only five-foot-ten he showed the ability to go up and get it, making a number of contested catches in the end zone last season.

With Dotson back and drawing the attention of opposing defenses again, look for Washington to have a huge sophomore season in Mike Yurcich’s offense that should suit his skill set perfectly.
