Way too early 2021 Big Ten power rankings | Where does Penn State Football stand?
Iowa was a very quiet 6-2 last season after losing their first two by a combined five points, then rattling off six straight victories to end the season.
The Hawkeyes, as usual under head coach Kirk Ferentz, are as good as it gets on both lines of scrimmage, as their offensive line cleared the way for running backs Tyler Goodson and Mekhi Sargent, one of the best running back tandems in the Big Ten.
Quarterback Spencer Petrus is not a difference maker, but is a good enough game manager to keep Iowa in every game and just limiting mistakes will lead to Iowa being one of the best teams in the West division next season.
Their plus 126 scoring margin was the best in the conference last season, and with most of their key starters back in 2021, they are primed for another very good season. They will have to replace wide receiver Smith-Marsette on the outside though on offense.
2021 could be one of the most talented teams Kirk Ferentz has had in some time at Iowa.
