Penn State Football: Getting to know Michigan State Spartans | 3 Key Players
Shakur Brown – Cornerback
In his first season starting for Michigan State, junior cornerback Shakur Brown has been a standout in a shaky Spartans secondary.
Brown epitomizes a ball hawk, as he not only leads the Spartans in interceptions, but is tied for the lead in the entire country with five. The senior also had four passes defended and 17 total tackles on the year.
Michigan State’s defense is allowing 231 yards per game through the air but Penn State quarterback Sean Clifford should be weary of throwing the ball to Brown’s side of the field.
According to Pro Football Focus, Brown grades out as the second best cornerback in all of college football, behind only Patrick Surtain of Alabama who many think will be a top 10 pick in April’s NfL Draft.
The Georgia native will present a unique challenge to Penn State wideouts Parker Washington and Jahan Dotson Saturday. Dotson passed a big test in week two against Buckeyes corner Sean Wade, but this will be another chance to prove to NFL scouts just how good he is.
