Penn State Football and Big Ten picks ATS
Rutgers +11 vs Purdue
Rutgers gave Michigan all they could handle in a three overtime loss last week, yet again proving they may not be ready or know how to win games, but the Scarlet knights are much improved under coach Greg Schiano.
Outside of a trip to Ohio State, Rutgers has lost there other 3 games by a combined 15 points and was leading late in the second half in two of those games.
Senior quarterback Noah Vedral has changed the identity of this offense, throwing for 1,100 yards and eight touchdowns this season. Rutgers should be able to move the ball on porous Purdue pass defense that surrenders 260 yards a game through the air.
One the other side, Purdue’s offense with Rondale Moore back looks more like it did in 2018, putting up 492 yards on Minnesota last week in a game the Boilermakers should have won. Quarterback Jake Plummer threw for 367 yards and three touchdowns vs the Gophers, and should have success against Rutgers who ranks near the bottom of the Big Ten in passing defense.
Purdue being this big of a favorite against anyone is puzzling, at 2-2 there largest margin of victory is seven points. Purdue will win, but Rutgers keeps it close enough to cover the number. Expect a high scoring affair, Purdue 34-26.
