Penn State Football falls to 0-5 for first time in program history
Quarterback situation gets worse
The old adage is if you have two quarterbacks, you don’t have any …
That’s where Penn State Football finds itself.
The Nittany Lions head into their final four games of the season. Redshirt sophomore Will Levis got the starting nod today, but was pulled after fumbling on the first drive of the third quarter.
Clifford threw touchdowns on each of his first two passes, but was again plagued by two interceptions, one returned for a touchdown. Clifford finished 13 of 22 for 174 yards with two touchdowns and two interceptions.
Levis started the game well, completing 13 of 16 passes for 106 yards, but the offense looked limited.
It was a heavy dose of quarterback run plays with Levis behind center, rushing 15 times for 34 yards. Levis’ longest completion was for 22 yards, and it seemed every route was quick and easy, allowing the Hawkeyes defense to play tight man coverage, sitting on routes. Levis held onto the ball way to long at times, fumbling twice, and looked to have an issue when his first read was not open.
Moving forward it seems for now Sean Clifford is the best quarterback on the roster, and gives them the best chance to win.
