Tight End

Grade: B

Pat Freiermuth was the known commodity at tight end coming into the season, with a bunch of highly touted freshmen behind him on the depth chart.

Even despite poor quarterback play, Freiermuth leads all Big Ten tight ends in receptions and receiving yards with 23 receptions for 310 yards and a touchdown. . The surprise is only one touchdown reception through four games after having 15 in the previous two seasons.

The reason this grade is not higher is due to the lack of production out of any of the other tight ends. Redshirt freshman Brenton Strange has seen the most action and has caught three passes for 23 yards. It would be a welcomed sight to see freshman and 4-star recruit Theo Johnson get on the field and gain valuable reps.
