Running backs

Grade: C+

By now everyone is aware that Penn State is down there two best tail backs in Journey Brown and Noah Cain for the season. Devyn Ford has gotten the bulk of the work, while freshmen Keyvone Lee and Coziah Holmes have gradually increased there workload over the last few weeks.

Ford has not shown the makings of an every down back, rushing for only 207 yards and two touchdowns. He has also not been a factor in the passing game, which was something Penn State fans thought they would see more of in Ciarrocca’s offense.

The freshmen both had their best games this past weekend against Nebraska, with Keyvone Lee rushing for 49 yards and his first collegiate touchdown. Running backs coach Ja’Juan Seider mentioned last week he had teach the freshmen the fundamentals in camp, even how to properly take a handoff.

A reminder of just how young this group is, the more these two backs get worked in and can get valuable reps for 2021, this grade will go up.
