Penn State Football’s youth movement must continue on offense
Changes along the offensive line
In our preseason piece analyzing Penn State football’s first initial depth chart, we noted redshirt freshman Caedan Wallace as a player who could eventually start at right tackle, kicking senior Will Fries inside to guard. It came to fruition Saturday afternoon against Nebraska, as Wallace started at right tackle and Will Fries got the start at right guard.
Wallace is a former 4-star, top 100 recruit who looks the part of a Big Ten offensive tackle, listed at 6-foot-5 and 313 pounds. Getting Wallace starts under his belt this season will be valuable going into 2021 as left tackle Rasheed Walker is draft eligible and could be on his way out, meaning Wallace could be the starting left tackle week one next season. Wallace was very good against Nebraska and the offensive line had maybe there best performance of 2020, surrendering only two sacks and paving the way for 245 yards rushing.
This offensive line may lose three or four starters to the NFL draft and graduation after this season. Wallace is a guy who will be back and depended on in 2021, the time is now for the New Jersey native.
