Penn State Football behind enemy lines: Interview with Husker Corner
By Evan Smith
To get a sense of where things stand for the Nebraska Cornhuskers, Penn State Football’s opponent on Saturday, and set the expectations for Week 4, Victory Bell Rings sat down with Husker Corner this week
Victory Bell Rings had the pleasure of sitting down for an interview with Danny Jaillet (@DJaillet95 on Twitter) of Husker Corner (@theHuskerCorner on Twitter) in hopes of gaining some intel on how Penn State can get their first win of the season!
Victory Bell Rings: For Penn State fans who haven’t watch the Huskers this year, who do we need to worry about?
The Husker Corner: “The biggest issue for the Cornhuskers is who takes the ball behind center. Taylor Martinez struggled last week and Luke McCaffrey (son of former NFL player Ed) was able to get the ball to the young, talented receiver corps. On the defensive side of the ball, LB’s Nick Henrich and Luke reimer are agreessive with good instincts.”
Victory Bell Rings: What impact did having a game cancelled due to COVID-19 have on the program?
The Husker Corner: “We saw no real on the field changes and no real game planning changes. Outside of a week off to allow the body to recover from Week 1 hits, Nebraska kept shooting themselves in the foot and did not take advantage of the week off.”
Victory Bell Rings: PSU stinks this year, so what’s one weakness they could exploit to try to win a stinking game?
The Husker Corner: “Take deep shots with Jahan Dotson and continually test the secondary.”
Victory Bell Rings: Should PSU v Nebraska be a traditional crossover game?
The Husker Corner: “I’d love to see the NEB-PSU rivalry to heighten, but our fans will always care more about the rivalry with Iowa. The game is after Thanksgiving, always on national television so it will be tough for NEB-PSU to ever overtake the Iowa game.”
Victory Bell Rings: Nebraska wins if (and your score prediction)…
The Husker Corner: 21-17 Cornhuskers as long as Nebraska gets strong play out of the QB position and the defense plays more than one quarter.
BONUS QUESTION
Victory Bell Rings: Tim Miles led Nebraska to the NCAA Tournament but was let go recently thereafter. Penn State let go their coach, Pat Chambers, after what could also be argued a program best season. Any advice for our Hoops fans?
The Husker Corner: Tim Miles was extremely polarizing and, although the personality was beloved by most, fans were always left wanting more. Fred Hoiberg has already brought in transfers to begin the rebuild and we have high hopes!
Penn State takes on the Cornhuskers in Nebraska tomorrow, Saturday November 13th at 12:00 pm EST on Fox Sports 1 (FS1).
