1. Brenton Strange

Pat Freiermuth is arguably the best tight end in school history. When he leaves for the NFL Draft after this season, he will leave a big hole at the position.

Two of Penn State’s first three games next season are against Wisconsin and Auburn, so there’s not a lot of time to let young guys get settled in.

Brenton Strange is currently listed as the back up to Freiermuth, and although that won’t be changing as long as Freiermuth is here, Strange could use more reps.

It’s important for Strange and the other tight ends to gain experience and get comfortable with Kirk Ciarrocca’s system for the years to follow. Penn State can do this by going with more two tight end looks along with giving Freiermuth more rest as he prepares for the NFL.
