Not a player, but new OC Kirk Ciarrocca

The primetime clash with the Buckeyes will be new offensive coordinator Kirk Ciarrocca real coming out party. For many, Saturday’s game plan in Bloomington left a lot to desire. Was Penn State holding back? not wanting to put parts of this new offense on tape? only time will tell.

Minnesota was a heavy RPO team under Ciarrocca, with rather simple passing game combinations. Slants, go routes and screens mixed with a good run game was the key to success.

Expect Ciarrocca to go deep into his bag of tricks for this game, pulling out all the stops to fend off an 0-2 start for the Nittany Lions. Clifford needs to get the ball out quick and hit some easy completions, especially early on. His ball control offense might be a needed change of pace as well for Penn State. Ohio State cannot score with there offense on the sidelines.
