New look WR corps

One of the more intriguing position groups to watch this fall for Penn State will be the WR corps. With the departure of KJ Hamler to the NFL , this group is young and rather inexperienced. One thing that jumped out was Parker Washington starting at wideout alongside Jahan Dotson, a returning starter, and Cam Sullivan-Brown. Washington, the 5-foot-10, 205 pound freshman seems to have earned the trust of this coaching staff.

"“The offense makes sense to him and he can kind of connect dots with some things. He’s got a mature approach to meetings and practice,” head coach James Franklin said of Washington in his game week press conference."

Last season, Hamler and Tight End Pat Frieurmuth combined for 99 catches, which was good for 45% of all pass receptions. With Hamler gone, there is room for a young wideout to step up. The emergence of a major contributor at this position will go a long way in QB Sean Clifford’s maturity and progression in 2020.

Another surprise came on the other side of the ball …
