Penn State football’s positions of Need in 2022 Recruiting Class
Offensive Tackle
This was supposed to be a position that Penn State recruited well at in 2021, but that wasn’t the case.
Penn State added a future star in Landon Tengwall, but there’s a chance he could move inside. The other offensive line commit, Nate Bruce, is an interior guy all the way. Penn State could still add a tackle in 2021, but it won’t be a highly rated guy.
First-year offensive line coach Phil Trautwein will have better relationships with 2022 targets than he did in 2021, due to the pandemic. He already has a commit in his 2022 class in 4-star Drew Shelton, who is listed as a tackle, but may be a guard in college.
It’s clear that Trautwein is set up for success and once prospects get to know the talented coach, the commits should start pouring in. They’ll need at least two in this class.
There’s plenty of targets in the area that Penn State can target, it should be a special class for Penn State at offensive tackle.
Names to know include Gunner Givens, Zach Rice, Jacob Allen, Tyler Booker and Ty Chan.
