Penn State football game-by-game predictions | Nittany Lions finally make College Football Playoff?
Week 6: Penn State at Michigan, Nov. 28, Kickoff time: TBD
It’s incredibly difficult to go undefeated in college football, and if Penn State is able to dispatch Ohio State at home, the tallest hurdle to clear to reach that mark.
Homefield advantage has been nearly omnipotent in this series, with Penn State’s last victory at the Big House coming back in 2009. The Nittany Lions have only beaten the Wolverines three times in Ann Arbor since joining the Big Ten in 1993.
This rivalry also seems personal between Franklin and Jim Harbaugh, with each running up the score when given the opportunity as Michigan did in a 42-7 2018 victory in response to Penn State blowing the Wolverines out in a Whiteout 42-13 in 2017.
Michigan faces a bit of turmoil at the quarterback position after Dylan McCaffrey opted out of the season, but the Wolverine’s defense has the chance to finish in the top-10 in the nation thanks to the likes of veterans like DE Kwity Paye, linebacker John Ross, and cornerback Vincent Gray anchoring a veteran group.
Don’t expect many fireworks from either of these offenses, and Michigan has the talent to counter Penn State punch for punch, and pull off an upset.
