Penn State’s opponent this week, Michigan State, is at the same crossroads as the Nittany Lions. A loss by either team this week essentially eliminates them from winning the Big Ten East.

A win, especially for Penn State, keeps them on a potential track for winning the Big Ten and even keeps them in the conversation a playoff team.

Last season, the Lions admitted the loss to Ohio State the previous week carried over to the following week at Michigan State. This year, the Penn State team captains have been making sure the Lions are totally focused on this week’s game.

So what Nittany Lions team will show up this week?

I have supreme confidence that Trace McSorley will have the team primed and ready to go. The Spartans, while having the best rushing defense in the country, have one of the worst passing defenses nationally. Look for McSorley and the Penn State passing game to take full advantage. Defensively, Penn State made some great strides last week.

Sparty has struggled to run the ball this year and quarterback Brian Lewerke has been forced to shoulder the load, resulting in six interceptions to go along with 6 touchdowns.

Michigan State will score some points, but Penn State will score more. I feel like the 13.5 points the Spartans are getting are too low. In the end, I’m laying the points and taking Penn State to get back on track.

Penn State – 37
Michigan State – 20
