A week off was good for my blood pressure. I have a feeling Penn State football learned from its early-season struggles during the bye week and will try to make its run back to College Football Playoff contention this week against Michigan State.

The Spartans have not had the season many though after earning a No. 11 ranking in the preseason. Brian Lewerke has been bit by the turnover bug early with just six touchdowns against six interceptions on the season. Offensively, the Spartans run game has been below average at best with only 3.4 yards per carry. L.J. Scott has suffered some injuries and hasn’t broken out in his senior year.

This is the perfect bounce-back game for an up-and-down Penn State defense. I think they’ll hold Michigan State out of the end zone and force a few field goals. While on the offensive end, Penn State will fully connect. The fact that the offense has scored at a high rate without a consistent passing game due to drops, means this team has all the potential in the world.

In this game, the passing game will light it up and add another chapter to Trace McSorley’s illustrious career.
