Welcome back to the weekly Penn State football recruiting roundup here at Victory Bell Rings

The past week has been a busy one in the world of Penn State football recruiting. The Nittany Lions earned a new commitment, they had commits and targets shine on the camp circuit, and they made the top list of one of their top targets.

So, let’s begin the recap of the week that was. Let’s begin the Penn State Football recruiting roundup.

Bryce Effner Commits

On Saturday afternoon, Penn State’s 2018 recruiting class picked up its 13th commitment. This commitment came in the form of offensive lineman Bryce Effner. Effner’s commitment gives the Nittany Lions three offensive line commits in their 2018 recruiting class.

Effner is a 3-star recruit from Aurora, Illinois. With his commitment, Penn State now owns the second-best recruiting class in the country according to 247 Sports. You can read more about Effner and his commitment here.

Commit, Target Shine At Rivals Camp

Over the weekend, Rivals held their Washington D.C. regional camp. Five-star running back commit Ricky Slade and four-star offensive tackle target Rasheed Walker both competed at this event and both of them shined brightly.

Slade was named the running back MVP of the event, while Walker was the offensive line MVP. While Walker has no timetable for a decision, he is a heavy Penn State lean. Unless something changes, whenever he does announce his college choice it will be the Nittany Lions.

Due to their showings over the weekend, both Slade and Walker were invited to the Rivals 5-Star Challenge later this summer.

Penn State Makes The Cut

On Monday, four-star wide receiver Daniel George released his top 10 schools on Twitter. Unsurprisingly, the Nittany Lions were one of the schools.

The other schools in George’s top 10 were Kentucky, Louisville, Maryland, N.C. State, North Carolina, Vanderbilt, Virginia Tech, West Virginia, and Wisconsin. Like the aforementioned Rasheed Walker, Daniel George is currently a heavy Penn State lean.

It is possible George could announce his college decision at some point in the next month or two. Like Walker, unless something changes whenever George announces his college decision the Nittany Lions will be the team to beat.
