Penn State kept rolling in a big home win over the Iowa Hawkeyes.

In front of an amped up Beaver Stadium nighttime crowd, Penn State came out firing on all cylinders. The Nittany Lions went up early and never looked back during a 41-14 victory over the Iowa Hawkeyes.

Penn State scored on its first possession of the game when Trace McSorley hit Saeed Blacknall on a 19-yard touchdown pass. The Nittany Lions added touchdown runs by McSorley and Saquon Barkley in the second quarter, along with a Tyler Davis field goal, to go up 24-7 at halftime.

More from Victory Bell Rings

With the way things had been trending in Happy Valley, the game seemed virtually in hand considering the Nittany Lions’ ability to put up points after the break. That trend did indeed continue, as they scored 17 more points in the second half to walk away with the convincing victory.

McSorley and Barkley paved the way for the big win, as each player put up some impressive numbers. McSorley threw for 240 yards with two touchdowns and also ran for 40 yards and a touchdown. Barkley rushed for 167 yards with a touchdown and caught a 44-yard touchdown pass.

No Nittany Lion wide receiver went over 100 yards, but Chris Godwin led the way with four catches for 87 yards and a score.

For as good as the offense looked, the defense looked just as good. The Nittany Lions were stout against the run and held the Hawkeyes to just 30 rushing yards and 234 total yards. Linebacker Jason Cabinda had a great game and led the team with eight total tackles.

Defensive back Troy Apke had the lone interception on the night.
