West Virginia at Texas (-6.5)

Coming off a Big 12 debut for the ages, Geno Smith and the high flying Mountaineers get their first true conference test in Austin.  Texas is coming off a thrilling last second win* against Oklahoma State in Stillwater (*-fumble not included).  Do the Longhorns have enough to put the brakes on Smith’s early season Heisman tour, or will WVU set more furniture ablaze back home in Morgantown?

Matt – Texas

I’ve been high on Texas since the start of the season, and last week’s win at Oklahoma State only solidified that.  Everyone has been talking about Geno Smith’s ridiculous game against Baylor last week and insane early season stats.  But this is going to be the Mountaineers first test of the season, a long way from home, against a hostile crowd, and a pretty damn good Texas team.  Expect a lot of points on the scoreboard when this is over, but in the end, Texas has a couple of stops in them to not only win, but cover the touchdown spread.

Tim – West Virginia

I know they don’t play D. I know that. But doesn’t Geno Smith GETTING a touchdown seem too good to be true? If not, Texas is moving way up in my top 25.

Craig – West Virginia

The line surprises me because the public saw WVU and Geno Smith put on a show, despite horrible defense. I think WVU is more explosive than Texas and will put enough points on the board to make +6.5 a winner.

Corey – Texas

Both teams put on an impressive offensive display last week, but neither team really showed much in the way of defense, especially West Virginia.  At this point, Geno Smith of the Mountaineers is the Heisman front runner, but he has yet to face a defense like the Longhorns possess.  With this being Smith’s first Big 12 game “deep in the heart of Texas”, look for the Longhorns to give him and the rest of the Mountaineers a dose of Southern hospitality!
