South Carolina (-7) at Vanderbilt

The biggest game of opening night takes place in Nashville.  Steve Spurrier brings his best South Carolina team yet to Vanderbilt to face a rapidly improving Commodores squad.

Matt – South Carolina

This was my toughest call of the week.  Vanderbilt is headed in the right direction, but I think South Carolina will prove to be too much.  One of the best defenses in the country will keep Vandy’s offense spinning their tires all night, and a healthy Marcus Lattimore provides enough on offense to pull away late and cover the 7 points.

Tim – South Carolina

I like the direction that Coach Franklin has Vandy headed in, but the South Carolina defense will be strong and the return of Marcus Lattimore can’t be understated. I think this one is close.

Craig – South Carolina

While Vandy is improved I just have to believe that South Carolina is more talented. If Lattimore is healthy, Vandy can only hope to slow him down. It may not be a blowout but I believe South Carolina wins by double-digits.

Corey – South Carolina

The Old Ball Coach may have one of his most talented teams at South Carolina.  He features returning RB Marcus Lattimore (back from an ACL tear) and QB Connor Shaw.  We may also see #1 recruit, Jadeveon Clowney on defense.  Senior RB Zac Stacy will be counted on to pace the Commodore offense. Vanderbit hopes to return to post season play again this year, and collect a bowl win.  I just don’t see them pulling off the home upset in this one!

Chris – South Carolina

The return of Marcus Lattimore and the arrival of all everything freshman Jadevon Clowney to an already strong defense will be too much for Vanderbilt, even at home.
