After his NFL Preseason debut against the Baltimore Ravens, former Penn State tight end Tyler Warren is getting Indianapolis Colts fans excited.
CBS Sports gave Warren a B+ rating after the first week. He started his preseason run with three catches for 40 yards, one for six yards, one for 11 yards, and his third for a 23-yard gain. Even though he's only getting a handful of reps in these preseason matchups, Colts fans are seeing exactly what he'll bring to the offense straight out of Happy Valley.
Against the Green Bay Packers on Saturday, Aug. 16, Warren did his job regardless of how on point the quarterback was. Nearly midway through the first quarter, the Penn State product went right by two Green Bay defenders, safety Kitan Oladapo and linebacker Isaiah Simmons. If Daniel Jones didn't overthrow the pass, it likely would've been Warren sailing all the way to the end zone never mind a completion on third-and-13.

The rookie Colt still got his catch in for the afternoon, though. As minutes ticked away in the first quarter, Warren made a 25-yard grab along the sidelines on first-and-10, advancing Indianapolis to the 11-yard line in Packers territory.

When Warren's up against a starting defense, the likelihood of the safety pushing him out of bounds easy isn't very high. However, for a preseason game, fans are getting excited for what will come from his regular season performance.
"Tyler Warren down field for a nice reception, he will be a matchup problem for defensive coordinator’s with his skill set!" one fan wrote.
"This was my first time laying eyes on Tyler Warren in Indy. Seemed like he was open on just about every route, really excited about him being featured," said another.
Warren is just one player, though. So even though there's a lot of excitement buzzing around the rookie tight end, it doesn't mean Colts fans are expecting a miraculous turnaround for their team. If anything, they're disappointed in the lack of quarterback talent he has to work with.

The former Nittany Lion will still be a asset for Indianapolis, even if he isn't in a situation to play to his full potential. He's expected to be a high-scoring tight end in the season and many people are poising him as a high Fantasy draft pick.
"Tyler Warren looks like a good bet to be a Top-8 scorer at the TE position this season," Theo Gremminger wrote on X. "Instant impact player in a featured role with the potential to lead this team in targets. I had Warren at 94 overall in my PPR Top 100 — probably too low on him."
The Colts' final preseason game is slated for Aug. 23 against the Cincinnati Bengals. Kickoff at Paycor Stadium is set for 1 p.m. and the game can be watched live locally on ABC, CBS, FOX, and NBC or streamed on NFL+.
