Penn State football linebacker Tony Rojas sustained an injury after Week 5 against Oregon that caused him to miss an extended period of time in the 2025 season. Details have yet to be disclosed, but the junior shared an update himself on social media on Thursday that gave fans an insight into the severity of the injury.
"God is good. i WILL be back better then ever," Rojas posted to Twitter/X alongside an Instagram story he shared.
On the story, he wrote, "Isaiah 41:10. 'Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand."

Over four games, Rojas recorded 25 tackles, two sacks, and one pass defensed. He played a critical role for the Nittany Lions' defense, and his absence was evident against UCLA in Week 6 when quarterback Nico Iamaleava and the rest of the Bruins offense ran through Penn State with no problem.

Since that contest, linebacker and three-year captain Dominic DeLuca stepped up into that vacant spot stronger, though Penn State is still missing Rojas' talents on the line.
In the preseason, former head coach James Franklin, defensive coordinator Jim Knowles, and strength coach Chuck Losey were excited for the season Rojas was going to have in 2025. In 2024, the linebacker tallied 58 tackles, four passes defensed, three interceptions, and one sack. One of his picks turned into a 59-yard return in the College Football Playoff First Round against SMU.
Though Penn State did not list Rojas as "out for the season," the blue and white's season will be cut off shorter than anticipated and leave Rojas off the field until 2026. In a different world where the Nittany Lions did not crash and burn, there was a potential chance for Rojas to return at the very end of the CFP, but even that was not guaranteed depending on his rehab and recovery.
