Former Penn State commit shares positive update Matt Campbell desperately needed

While head coach Matt Campbell hasn't struck gold yet with recruits from Pennsylvania, he isn't stopping just yet. Outside of the state, he's also fostering interest from top recruits. The latest is a four-star cornerback from Euclid, Ohio.

Four-star cornerback Kei'Shjuan Telfair schedules official visit with Penn State

Kei'Shjuan Telfair, the No, 278 recruit overall and No. 30 cornerback from the Class of 2027, scheduled three official visits so far. He is also the No. 9 prospect out of Ohio, per 247Sports Composite rankings.

Out of Telfair's list of 39 offers, Penn State, Clemson, and Miami reign supreme at the moment. Rivals' Greg Smith reported that these three programs will host the four-star on official visits from the end of May through near mid-June. The Nittany Lions cap off the trio as Telfair is penciled in for June 12.

Penn State was the first program that extended an offer to Telfair, doing so on Oct. 4, 2024. Campbell has yet to re-offer, but an official visit scheduled regardless of the status of his offer is great news for the Nittany Lions.

Following the 2025 season, Telfair was named a Second-Team All-Ohio defensive back, as reported by The Euclid Observer. He was an All-GCC and Northeast Lakes All-District First-Team selection as well.

According to On3 Rivals, Penn State is currently projected to land the recruit with a 30 percent chance at doing so. The Tigers and Hurricanes are close behind coming in with a 21.1 percent chance and 13.7 percent chance, respectively. Other teams in the mix, coming in with less than a 10 percent chance are Michigan, Cincinnati, Ohio State, and Notre Dame.

Rivals also gave Telfair a four-star, 90.81 Industry Ranking. They have him listed as the No. 194 recruit, No. 20 cornerback, and No. 4 Ohio-based prospect.
