Penn State football put the first points of second half with a 43-yard field goal from Ryan Barker, and the offense was quick to get right back on the field.
Fans went wild for Dani Dennis-Sutton's play that caused an interception on Villanova's first play of the half. Going completely unblocked with Dominic DeLuca eating up most of the offensive line, Dennis-Sutton went straight to Wildcat quarterback Pat McQuaide and hit him right as he was airing out the ball to Luke Colella.
This set up the perfect scenario for Elliot Washington II to pick McQuaide off. He took it to the Villanova 23-yard line, and it seemed like the perfect scenario for the Nittany Lions to get more than just three points.
Drew Allar killed that potential.
Wide receiver Trebor Pena and running back Kaytron Allen got the first down after two plays and Penn State was just 11 yards away from the end zone. Targeting Allen on the next play, Allar blindly lofted the ball into the air. Wildcat Omari Bursey easily tracked it and intercepted the pass, immediately igniting a series of Drew Allar criticism on social media.
Especially against a weak non-conference opponent, fans were disappointed and frustrated with his struggles. While it was the only interception Allar threw, it wasn't the only pass Villanova didn't interfere with.
I have defended Drew Allar for the past year and I just can’t anymore. Third year, senior starter and he still doesn’t have it. Streaky at best, constant poor decision making, and he still hasn’t shown that “alpha” mentality.

In the first quarter, Allar had poor vision on the field again right in front of him. He attempted a pass, but it was immediately blocked and Allar caught the deflection of his own throw and scrambled for five yards to make the most of the mishap.
The sluggish performance against Florida International in Week 2 and now an interception against an FCS team is more than enough for fans to lose faith in the third-year starting quarterback.
I don't have faith in Drew Allar taking us to the promised land.

It's also making fans think his NFL Draft stock is drastically dropping. Talks about Allar being a high first-round pick before the season disintegrated. Now, fans don't even have hope that he'll be a first-round draft pick at all.
If someone tells you Drew Allar is a first round pick next spring. Block them

Some are going as far as to thinking when he gets to the league, he'll crash and burn.
Drew Allar is not an NFL quarterback

The Nittany Lions have Oregon coming up next in Week 5. Thankfully for Allar, he has two weeks to prepare for the Ducks and shake off his performances in Weeks 2 and 3. With a bye week coming up, he needs to buckle down, improve his decision-making, and strengthen chemistry with his receivers before a real challenge comes to Happy Valley.
