The media universe is converging on Happy Valley for Ohio State vs. Penn State
By Josh Yourish
All Ohio State and Penn State had to do was escape Week 9 without suffering another or their first loss of the season and their matchup in Week 10 at Beaver Stadium was going to be one of the biggest games of the entire season. It wasn’t pretty, but Ohio State escaped an upset scare from Nebraska in Columbus and Penn State lost its quarterback, but not the game to Wisconsin in Madison. Now, the two top-5 teams will meet on Saturday, November 2 with huge Big Ten title game implications and the media universe is converging on Happy Valley.
Instead of being in the NBC primetime slot, FOX flexed its muscles to have this game kickoff at Noon ET on FOX’s Big Noon Kickoff. Despite being featured on a rival network, ESPN’s College Gameday is heading to Happy Valley undaunted for its pregame show with the potential of a parking-lot showdown reminiscent of Anchorman.
Gameday has not made the trip to State College in quite a while, last coming to town for the 2021 White Out a Week 3 Penn State win over Auburn. This will be the 11th Gameday appearance in Happy Valley and the last time that the crew was on site for a Penn State game was last year’s 20-12 loss to the Buckeyes in Columbus.
It’s not just FOX and ESPN both pulling out all the stops for this matchup, former President Donald Trump also plans to be in attendance a week after his rally at the Bryce Jordan Center. The University has advised fans to arrive early for the game, and that seems like decent advice.
