Penn State football gained traction with a bunch of Class of 2026 and 2027 recruits with head coach Matt Campbell putting his foot on the gas to put together both a roster for the upcoming season and the Nittany Lions in good standing for the future.

Some of these recruits previously de-committed from the program at the start of the 2025 season before and after Virginia Tech head coach James Franklin was fired. Four-star wide receiver from the Class of 2027, Khalil Taylor, is one of these recruits who are reconsidering Penn State.

Four-star wide receiver Khalil Taylor believes Penn State is "making a run again"

Per 247Sports Composite rankings, Taylor is the No. 14 wide receiver from his class and the 65th-ranked overall recruit. The Pittsburgh, Penn. native is also the No. 4 student-athlete from the state. Campbell regained interest from other Pennsylvania recruits, and landing Taylor's commitment would be a massive boost for the Nittany Lions' 2027 recruiting class.

Penn State re-extended Taylor an offer on Dec. 17 and, like others, the wide receiver isn't leaving the blue and white out of the picture despite his previous de-commitment.

"They're making a run again," Taylor said, according to Nittany Sports Now. "[Offensive coordinator Taylor Mouser] visited me at school. I liked what he was talking about. He sounds like a dude. They’re talking about how good their offense is. They throw the ball. They’re saying, ‘This ain’t the old Penn State.’ They’re telling me they’re going to throw the rock. They’re going to make sure the wide receivers shine."

In regards to his role for Penn State, Taylor said he can be used anywhere on the field on offense and special teams. Getting him out there and registering catches, returns, or even carries allows the Nittany Lions to capitalize on Taylor's versatility.

Taylor also spoke highly of Campbell, recalling the head coach's Division III championship wins he was a part of when at the University of Mount Union. Campbell was a defensive end for the team and won three national championships at the Division III level.

"He’s just a great coach," Taylor said to NSN of Campbell. "I love what he’s talking about, I love talking to him, and our bond’s just getting stronger by the day.”
