As of Monday, Jan. 12, the Nittany Lions are up to 10 enrollees and four commitments from the Class of 2026, which used to be made up of a lone two recruits: 247Sports Composite four-stars edge rusher Jackson Ford and quarterback Peyton Falzone.

On Monday, three-star running back D'Antae Sheffey enrolled at Penn State. The five-foot-11-inch, 180-pound rusher from State College, Penn. was previously committed to Syracuse. He de-committed from the Orange on Nov. 23 and received two offers from additional schools following the news. Missouri extended an offer on Dec. 15 and the Nittany Lions gave Sheffey an offer on Jan. 2.

Sheffey took an official visit to Happy Valley on Jan. 6, four days after receiving his offer. One day later, he committed to Penn State. Before locking it in with the blue and white, though, Sheffey took an official visit to the Tigers on Jan. 9.

Per 247Sports Composite rankings, Sheffey is ranked 1,228th overall in the Class of 2026 and is the 74th-ranked running back. He is also ranked 35th out of recruits from Pennsylvania. Sheffey is the only running back the Nittany Lions have from that class as of mid-January.

From the Transfer Portal, Sheffey joins rushers James Peoples and Carsen Hansen. Peoples transferred out of Ohio State following the Buckeyes' loss in the College Football Playoff, and Hansen followed Campbell from Iowa State to Penn State.

The Nittany Lions also acquired a commitment from safety Christian Askew on Jan. 10. Askew is not currently ranked or rated on 247Sports Composite rankings. He is a six-foot-four-inch, 185-pound defensive back from Kathleen, Ga. from the Class of 2026. Askew was previously committed to and signed with James Madison University as of Dec. 3. On Jan. 10, he received his offer from Penn State and committed. Other programs interested in the young safety were Navy, Army, Georgia State, Yale, and Florida State.
