Former Penn State football running back Kaytron Allen is preparing for his the next step of his career. The fate of his future will be determined at the 2026 NFL Draft at the end of April. Regardless of where the former Nittany Lion ends up in the NFL, Allen is ready to continue improving just like he did at the collegiate level.

Nicholas Singleton's adversity at Penn State will help shape his NFL future

Allen emerged as the top rusher for the blue and white in 2025, clearly separating himself from the identity as Robin to Batman running back Nicholas Singleton. He became Penn State's all-time leading rusher, surpassing both Saquon Barkley and Evan Royster, and secured third-team Associate Press All-American recognition. Allen was also named to the All-Big Ten first-team in 2025.

As a senior, he registered 1,303 rushing yards and 15 touchdowns over 12 games. Singleton, on the other hand, had a plummeting performance compared to 2024. He had just 549 yards and 13 scores over 12 games.

"I don't think people really respect what I've done here," Allen told reporters at the Nittany Lions' Pro Day on Wednesday. "I always made progress since I've been here — progress after progress."

He mentioned that sometimes it's often brushed under the rug that he currently holds Penn State's all-time rushing leader title as well.

"I don't think people really talk too much about that either, but it is what it is," Allen said. "It's on the record board."

Penn State running back Kaytron Allen says his performance proves "who I am and what I stand for"

Despite not getting the recognition or praise he believed he earned over his collegiate career, he's more focused on getting an opportunity to prove himself time and time again. No matter who appreciates his impact or gives him his flowers, Allen has his sight's set on improving day-by-day and taking on the next level of his career.

"I've been dreaming about it so long," Allen said. "It's in arm's reach, and whatever happens I've just gotta take advantage of it. All I need is an opportunity and to take advantage of everything."

Allen knows he's a difference maker. He's done it in Happy Valley, and he wants to bring that and his energy to the NFL.

"There was nothing I could do about it but play ball and control what I control," Allen said. "When I get the ball, you're gonna know who I am and what I stand for."
