Who are the coaches for the 2024 Reese’s Senior Bowl?
By Josh Yourish
The Reese’s Senior Bowl is the first NFL audition for the four Nittany Lions who accepted invites to the game, Kalen King, Johnny Dixon, Adissa Isacc, and Theo Johnson. Even before the NFL Draft combine, these four will have a chance to impress NFL coaching staff. The Senior Bowl, down in Mobile Alabama will be played on Saturday, February 3 at 1:00 p.m. ET, with practices all week leading up to the game.
The Senior Bowl just announced who will be leading those practices and coaching those games. The coaching staffs of the two teams are comprised of NFL assistant coaches and 2024 is the second year of the “Coach-up” model where assistants take an elevated position to the one they fill on their respective staffs.
The rosters have yet to be divided between the “National Team” and “American Team” but Jeff Ulbrich of the New York Jets and Terrell Williams of the Tennessee Titans have been named as the two head coaches for the event.
Both head coaches come with a defensive background, which is good news for King, Dixon, and Isaac. Ulbrich has been the defensive coordinator of the New York Jets under head coach Robert Saleh for the past three seasons, and Williams, who has 26 years of coaching experience, has spent the last six seasons on the Titans staff and in 2023 was the assistant head coach and defensive line coach.
The week in mobile won’t just be about evaluating the players, executive vice president of football operations for the NFL Troy Vincent Sr. said, “The Senior Bowl is not only a showcase for top football student-athletes, but also a wonderful opportunity for coaches that are nominated by their NFL clubs to further develop their skills and learn from one another."
The four former Penn State players heading to Mobile will look to impress Ulbrich and Williams to increase their draft stock come late April.
