UCLA vs. Penn State how to watch, odds, injuries, weather, and series history
By Josh Yourish
Typically, throughout the history of college football, the only way that Penn State and UCLA would meet is in the Rose Bowl. Well, this time, the Bruins will be in Happy Valley for a Noon kickoff in Week 6 at Beaver Stadium for a conference matchup.
The two programs have met six times, but not since 1968 when Penn State linebacker Jack Ham opened the scoring with a blocked punt that Jim Kates returned for a Nittany Lion touchdown.
UCLA has already been integrated into the Big Ten with losses to Indiana 42-13 and Oregon 34-13 last week, but both matchups took place in Pasadena. This will be the Bruin's first trip to the Eastern time zone.
Penn State opened Big Ten play last week with “White Out energy” at Beaver Stadium for a 21-7 win over No. 19 Illinois. The win bumped the Nittany Lions to No. 7 in the AP poll, only behind Oregon and USC in the conference.
While Drew Allar and the Penn State offense were relatively kept in check in Week 5, defensive coordinator Tom Allen’s unit was elite, stifling the Fighting Illini after an opening drive touchdown. It could be even tougher for UCLA to move the ball with an injury hampering starting quarterback Ethan Garbers.
Penn State opens as a big home favorite, so let’s dig into the odds, the injuries, and how to watch this Big Ten showdown.
