These Penn State football players who saved their starting spot for 2024

Penn State is losing plenty of talent to the NFL and James Franklin was aggressive in the transfer portal, but these three players showed enough in 2024 to ensure that they won't be losing their spot on the depth chart next season.

With eight Nittany Lions declared for the 2024 NFL Draft, there will be competitions across the board this offseason to earn those vacated snaps. However, there is still plenty of returning talent on the Penn State roster.

So, which players preserved their spot on the depth chart for next season?

There are plenty of situations where one year in the starting lineup is one year too many for the head coach. However, these players did enough to prove they deserve another shot or even an increased role in James Franklin’s 11th season.

With several opt-outs and more players sitting out the second half, the Peach Bowl was a dress rehearsal for 2024, and it didn’t go well. This season proved yet again that Penn State will need to develop this offseason to have a chance to beat Ohio State.

The debacle even prompted James Franklin to finally get aggressive in the transfer portal, but these three players showed enough, either in that game or across the entire season, to preserve a starting spot.
