Selection Sunday 2024: Time, Date, & How to Watch men’s and women’s special
By Josh Yourish
Before everyone can start filling out their brackets and badgering coworkers for money for their March Madness pools, we have to get the bracket. For the dedicated fans and degenerate gamblers (myself included), the madness of March begins with conference tournaments.
It’s not all about Cinderella’s time at the big dance, it starts with her punching her ticket. Bid-stealers can be just as fun as bracket-busters and it all leads up to Selection Sunday where we finally get the men’s and women’s NCAA Tournament brackets.

Both Penn State men’s and women’s basketball teams are unlikely to make either tournament unless they steal a bid by winning the Big Ten tournament. Last season, Purdue beat the Penn State men’s basketball team in the Big Ten tournament final, but the Nittany Lions still received their first NCAA tournament bid since 2011.
The Penn State women have not played in the tournament since 2014.
In 2023, eight Big Ten teams made the tournament on the men's side, but none made it past the Sweet 16. The Big Ten women dominated the tournament with seven teams in the 68-team field, but three in the Elite Eight. Caitlin Clark was the headline of the tournament, but her Iowa team was beaten by LSU in the final 102-85.
