After an All-American career at Penn State, Shipley spent his first season in the NFL on the Steelers’ practice squad. Then, he was signed by the Philadelphia Eagles and spent 2010 and 2011 on Philly’s practice squad. Finally, in 2012, he got a chance as a backup center and started five games for the Indianapolis Colts.
After that shaky start, Shipley went on to play eight seasons in the NFL with 72 career starts and won the Super Bowl as a member of the 2020 Tampa Bay Buccaneers, though he spent much of the year on IR after suffering a career-ending neck injury at 34 years old.
