Mitchell transferred from Pepperdine in 2023 to join Minnesota. He started 24 games last season for the Golden Gophers but conceded ball-handling duties to Elijah Hawkins for most of the season. With Hawkins transferring to Texas Tech, this frees up Mitchell to be the team's starting point guard.
